Dustin Yellin had a big day on Saturday. “We moved in to the new studio and hosted this party all in one crazy night,” smiled the artist. Of course, Yellin not talking about ANY random studio. Artist’s new space on Pioneer & King in Red Hook might be the biggest, most exciting, new artist space right now in New York…or anywhere for that matter. It’s so huge that it took three co-hosts in Bob Colacello, Vito Schnabel and MGMT’s lead man Andrew VanWyngarden to host the intimate dinner opening for the space and launch of Yellin’s intriguing Intercourse magazine.
But first back to the studio…A former rail repair station might just be the Brooklyn’s answer to the P.S. 1 thanks to it’s size, location, and Yellin’s intended commitment to helping nourish other young talents. The artist also took the opportunity to unveil his epic 24000-pound triptych inspired by Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights and guests like Aby Rosen, Sybil Yurman, and Dasha Zhukova, took the massive work in wonder. Even Yellin’s own mom flew in from Hawaii for the unveiling. Others like the entire crew from MGMT enjoyed the meatball and pasta family style buffet, their new surroundings, and of course the Art History Astrology section of Intercourse. And Colacello (pictured) happily discovered his self-portrait amidst all the action.

Admit it, you’re little tired. This was no ordinary Basel. Every marketing guru and PR genius in America decided to spend their event budgets in Miami this year and that translated to roughly 15 events each night. Some struggled, some prospered, and many stood out. Here are our 2011 Basel citations!
Best artist cameo: Damien Hirst, who stopped by a few bashes including the Swarovski dinner, Diddy hosted Mazzucco meal at Mr. Chow, and then swallowed some glow-sticks at White Cube.

Dior and Gagosian will kick thing off to celebrate Anselm Reyle’s collaboration with the LVMH giant at The Moore Building in North Miami. And Dior has the week’s most ambitious party plan with its endless pop-up shop cocktails, free manicures, and free hangover breakfasts.
At Soho Beach House, Gagosian’s biggest competitor White Cube is hosting a chic casual dinner of it’s own with the biggest artists and collectors on the planet Earth, while Nadja Swarovski will host a meal in honor of the artist Erwin Redl downstairs. Aaron Young, Simon de Pury, Ron Arad, and Aurel Schmidt will all be on premises.
Ingrid Sischy and Sandy Brant of Vanity Fair International are teaming up Dewar’s and Donna Karan for their annual MOCA Miami blowout while, the Ferrari party with Peter Brant and Interview got so large that it’s been moved to the 1111 Lincoln Road garage (where Art Ruby hosted its bash last year). Marco Brambilla is showing his new installation at the high volume bash.

It was a party of massive proportions: huge lines, lots of Beluga vodka, and record water taxi action near the terrace of The Bauer hotel. But the Commercial Break (hosted by of Dasha Zhukova, Alexander Dellal, Neville Wakefield & Garage Projects) was worthy of all the hype. After all, the video project encompassed contributions from countless of artists (many like Terence Koh, Richard Phillips, Josephine Meckseper, Aaron Young came out for the party), many more curators, and lots of international stress. Those who came out to see the videos included Courtney Love, boys from Maroon 5 (really?), European jet setting socials like Olympia Scarry & Charlotte Casiraghi, and Riccardo Tisci, among countless of others. In fact, the bar was utilized so well, that the crowd didn’t really clear until 3AM for the after-after party.
