When fall comes around, it seems like the West Coast wakes up to actually challenge Gotham in some of most lucrative and complex shows of the season. Later this week, Prism is opening Misericordia (a Latin term for “Mercy”), an exhibit that’s about to showcase 15th to 17th Century Old Masters next to the likes of Givenchy and Chanel favorites, Marina Abramović and Terence Koh. Sounds intriguing? That’s because thecurator Birte Kleemann (of Pace) spent numerous months studying the contrasts of juxtapositions between the century old classics and the use of bodies, suffering, and pain (among other things in life) in the works of today’s some of most publicized artists. The exhibit runs in Los Angeles through December 4.[gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
