Our Editorial Team tries to select the highest quality images to appear on the site.

  4. Hit Preview. If you’re satisfied with your quick work, please click Submit!

SUBMISSION RULES:

  1. Registration is required to post photos on the site.
  2. We’re looking to feature beautiful, vibrant, well balanced, art related images. We’re striving to ensure that only the highest quality pictures appear on the site to guarantee enjoyment for our readers.
  3. Photos are automatically re-sized and cropped to 235 px by 235 px.
  4. We reserve the right to remove posts at any time and all submissions are moderated.

THE CONTENT:

We’re looking to feature and inspire readers with visually enriching, creative, innovative, inspirational, and compelling content. We’re looking for things that have a lasting relevance and mass art appeal. Our features could celebrate artists in established New York museums or unknown sculptors in Danish backyards. But it has to be inspiring or intriguing. The odds are if it’s attractive to you, we’ll probably love it too.

Here’s a list of topics we normally feature:
Architecture, collectors, art critics, events and exhibits, art fairs, artists, art objects, auctions, books, galleries, installations, art magazines, museums, photography, sculptures, art web sites, art in fashion, paintings, installations, and curators.

CAPTIONING:

We have limited amount of space to describe every post, but here’s are some basic guidelines to make it easier for you and our readers.

  1. Who or what? (or what keywords would you use to search for it later)
  2. When and where is the event happening? (the publishing dates can also apply here)
  3. What’s cool or interesting about the topic?
  4. Make sure the text fits and try to use your own prose (as apposed to copying and pasting the link)

THE PERFECT IMAGE:

What’s a perfect image for ART RUBY?
We’re a very visual website and we’re seeking for imagery that begs to be clicked on. Ideally, it’s colorful, beautiful, and something that you automatically want to explore. But here are few other guidelines.

The perfect image…

  1. Easily describes the event, artist, or artwork
  2. Fits the size standard – images have to be larger than 235 px in height and width.
  3. Is smaller than 500 kb.
  4. Is a jpg, gif, or png.
  5. Is vivid in color and good contrast unless it’s meant to be otherwise.
  6. Is not grainy or blurry.
  7. Is text and graphic element free unless it’s a book cover. That goes for borders, text, and watermarks.

Note: We reserve the right to replace your image with one that we feel is more visually appealing to your post.

WHAT GETS PUBLISHED?

There’s no magic formula to getting your post published on our ART RUBY and it’s our intention to publish as many appropriate and fitting stories as possible. However, the best way to make sure that your work is indeed read by many others is just to familiarize with our board of stories and what we normally publish. We’re also looking for previously unseen links and visually inspiring submissions. But here’s a general guide to our editorial system:

1. After you make a submission, it may take anywhere from bare minutes to 24 hours for your post to appear on the front page. We receive many submissions and review each and every single one, which includes clicking and reading the link regardless of what the image looks like.

2. Captioning is crucial for submissions and in the past we had to politely reject posts that feature the link and the image only. Please take a few moments to describe your post.

3. We obviously don’t publish duplicate submissions. Your find might have appeared on ARTRUBY.com previously. We know our archives are extensive, but please do check before posting (especially if you’re not dealing with a very current work or exhibit).

4. If we haven’t approved your submission, it is because it doesn’t fit with the over all theme of ART RUBY. But we do encourage you to submit as much as your heart desires and we promise to be very democratic about our daily selection process. It’s our goal to feature as many amazing stories on the site as possible. We also kindly request that you don’t submit your finds more than once.

5. We’re looking to enlighten our readers and not sell them items. When captioning, please try not to write anything that sounds like advertising, marketing, PR, or a sales pitches, e.g. “Click here,” “Come check out…” “Learn how to…” We’ll group that jargon under SPAM. Our reader will make their own decision of what to click on based on visual or news worthy appeal. Words like “Free” and “Clearance Sale” won’t pass the SPAM test either.

PROBLEMS? If you spot a problem post, please click the REPORT A BUG button on the bottom of the page.
